Build a great prompt in one minute

Try the SPARK method from Chapter 2. Pick a task, change the example to your own situation, and copy a ready-to-paste prompt for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot.

Your prompt

My energy bill for March doubled compared with February, and nothing changed at home. Write a polite complaint email asking them to recheck the meter reading. This is for the customer service team at my energy company. I'm a customer of 12 years.. Under 150 words, firm but polite, mention reference [your reference]. Give me a letter ready to send. Before you answer, ask me any questions you need.

Replace anything in [brackets] with your own details. Never include passwords, card numbers or ID numbers.

Want 150 of these, ready-made? The playbook has prompts for letters, paperwork, travel, cooking, tech help, family and more, plus the 12 follow-up moves.

Try six prompts from the playbook right now

Copy one, open your AI assistant, replace the [brackets] with your details and send. Each comes with the follow-up that makes it even better.

The polite complaint that gets results

Help me write a firm but polite complaint email to [company]. What happened: [what went wrong, with dates]. What I've already tried: [calls, emails, reference numbers]. What I want: [refund / repair / replacement / apology] by [date]. Keep it under 200 words, stick to the facts, and end with a clear request and the date I expect a reply.

Then try: Now give me a short version I could read out on the phone.

Explain this letter

Explain this letter in plain English. What is it about, what do they want from me, by when, and what happens if I do nothing? [Paste the letter, with account numbers and personal details removed.]

Then try: Make me a to-do list from it, with dates.

Step-by-step settings for your exact device

Give me step-by-step instructions to [task] on my [device model and system, e.g., iPhone 13 / Samsung Galaxy A54 / Windows 11 laptop]. Number each step and tell me what I should see on the screen after each one.

Then try: Step [number] doesn't match my screen. I see: [what you see]. What now?

What can I make with what I have?

I have these ingredients: [list]. I also have basic pantry items: [list]. Suggest 3 dinners I could make in under [30] minutes. For each, list any extra ingredient I'd need. No complicated equipment.

Then try: Give me the full recipe for number [2], with numbered steps.

Is this message a scam?

I received this [text / email / message]: [paste it, with my personal details removed]. Does it show signs of a scam? List the warning signs you see, and tell me how to check if it's genuine without using any link or number in the message.

Then try: How do I report this in [country]?

A weighted comparison

I'm choosing between [options]. My criteria: [list]. Ask me how important each criterion is from 1 to 5, then score each option and show the totals in a table. Explain which criterion decided it.

Then try: What would have to change for option [B] to win?

These six are word for word from the book. The other 144 cover cards and speeches, home repairs, travel, bills and budgets, learning, family, hobbies, community work, decisions and your life story.

Good questions

Questions people ask

Which AI assistants does it work with?

All the big ones: ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, on the free or paid plans. The prompts are plain English, so they work the same in any of them.

I'm a complete beginner. Is this for me?

Yes. Part One explains everything in plain English, and every prompt has blanks to fill in. If you have never used AI at all, start with our free course ChatGPT in 30 Minutes, then come back.

What exactly do I download?

Five files: the 114-page playbook (PDF), 62 printable prompt cards (PDF), a one-page cheat sheet (PDF), My Prompt Notebook (PDF) and a plain-text file with all 150 prompts for easy copying.

Can I print it?

Yes. Everything is designed to print on US Letter or A4 paper. Print as many copies of the cards, cheat sheet and notebook as you like for your household.

Can I see some of it first?

Yes. Download the free sample (the welcome, the SPARK chapter and all ten letter and email prompts), and try the six free prompts on this page.

Is it safe to use these prompts with my personal letters and bills?

The book shows you how: remove names, addresses and account numbers before you paste anything, and never type passwords, card numbers or ID numbers. Chapter 5 also shows you the privacy settings worth switching on.

Will AI give me financial, medical or legal advice with these prompts?

No, and it shouldn't. The prompts help you organize, understand and prepare: explain a letter, compare two plans side by side, list questions for your appointment. For decisions, the book always points you to a qualified professional or the official source.

How do I get the files after paying?

Right after checkout you come back to your SkillNugget library, and we email you a sign-in link. Download the files there any time, on any device. No password needed.
