Good questions

Questions people ask

Do I need to be a good writer?

No. You need to be the person who was there. Lesson 1 shows you how to write the way you talk, and Lesson 6 shows you how to speak your stories instead of writing them.

Is this a printed book?

It is a printable PDF workbook. Print it at home or at any print shop (US Letter or A4), one week at a time or all at once, and keep it in a binder. Part 3 explains how to turn your finished stories into a bound book.

Can I give it as a gift?

Yes, that is one of the best ways to use it. Print the workbook and the gift certificate, put them in a binder with a nice pen, and offer to be the first reader of every story. The gift guide in the toolkit explains how.

How long does it take?

About 30 to 45 minutes a week for a year. You can go faster or slower, skip weeks and come back to them. You are never behind.

Can I type instead of writing by hand?

Yes. Use the prompts with a computer, a tablet or your phone's voice dictation. The printed pages are there if you prefer pen and paper.

Do I have to use AI?

Not at all. AI is optional. If you would like help tidying spoken stories, Lesson 6 gives you prompts that keep your words and forbid the AI from inventing details.

What if some memories are painful?

You choose what to write and what to share. Lesson 5 shows gentle ways to approach hard chapters, how to write about real people fairly, and when to put the pen down and talk to someone you trust.

How do I get the files after paying?

Right after checkout you come back to your SkillNugget library, and we email you a sign-in link. Download the workbook and toolkit there any time.

Your stories deserve to outlive you.

One question a week. Fifty-two weeks. A book your family will keep.

Write Your Life Story is a writing guide. It is not therapy or medical, legal or financial advice. If writing about the past brings up difficult feelings, pause and talk to someone you trust or a qualified professional. AI tools are optional; ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are trademarks of their owners and SkillNugget is not affiliated with them. Example passages in the workbook were written to illustrate the techniques.
